Fulton Education Foundation (FEF) and Microsoft are collaborating with Fulton County Schools and the City of East Point to support technology education in the community. While the initiative focuses on elementary to high school students, it also provides opportunities for adults and educators to further promote STEM exposure and create sustainable career pathways.

The Microsoft Flagship Grant enables Fulton County Schools to offer several STEM programs for K-12 students, with accessible options for extended-day, weekend, summer, and mobile learning. The programming incorporates real-world tech experiences such as AI, e-sports and gaming, fashion, music, and digital design. These experiences will help students build lifelong essential skills including mathematical logic, problem solving, collaboration, developing design principles, and making connections and predictions based on observation.

Microsoft has been working with East Point leaders, including the mayor and superintendent, to develop a comprehensive community impact strategy focused on tech education and expanding career pathways. Through Microsoft training resources, the initiative delivers AI and STEM professional development for the teachers, helping them to provide high-quality education. For adults in East Point, the initiative also offers digital skilling, job readiness programs, and environmental and sustainability education.

The initiative collaborates with several organizations to deliver these services, including:

  • KITTLabs—overseeing STEM programs on e-sports, gaming, and intersectional tech.
  • Kids Next Code—hosting coding camps at East Point Library.
  • Technologists of Color—focusing on e-sports and gaming STEM initiatives.
  • Trees Atlanta—implementing environmental science education.
  • Per Scholas—providing tech training for work-ready adults.
  • Educate the City—empowering seniors through digital literacy and lifelong learning.

Through these collaborations, the City of East Point and Fulton County Schools aim to expand career, technical, and agricultural education pathways, provide skill-building for STEM personnel in local schools, and bring quality resources to underserved communities—improving East Point for all.
