Microsoft in your community
Datacenters provide the infrastructure behind everyday technology. When you open an app, join a virtual meeting, save photos, or play online games, you’re using a datacenter. Local businesses, hospitals, governments, and schools also rely on them to deliver essential services.
We know communities have questions, which is why we created the Community‑First Infrastructure Initiative. We’ll cover our own electricity costs, replenish more water than we use, create local jobs, support public services through taxes, and offer training to help communities prepare for the AI era.
This work will begin in the US, and similar Community-First Infrastructure plans will follow in other countries, each reflecting local needs and traditions.
