Poland community investments

As we build and operate datacenters in Poland, we strive to ensure our activities bring benefits to the local communities where we work. Our commitment focuses on three key areas of Building Digital Skills, Enabling Sustainability, and Empowering Communities. The following program list contains a sample of the kinds of investments Microsoft makes on an annual basis.

Building digital skills

We believe everyone should have access to the skills, technology, and opportunities they need to succeed in a changing economy.

The Information Society Development Foundation (FRSI) helps residents of smaller towns embrace new technologies. The foundation believes that, when used effectively, technology can foster social dialogue, promote equal opportunities, and support sustainable development in local communities.

  • The My Digital Life program aims to provide access to new technologies and digital education in smaller towns across Poland. It focuses on promoting digital inclusion and equal opportunities by developing digital skills and strengthening competencies valued in the job market. Residents also benefit from digital equipment donated by Microsoft to local institutions and educational organizations. Building on five years of successful collaboration with local communities, FRSI designs educational programs tailored to their specific needs. Examples include:
    • Workshops and webinars on using AI.
    • Free resources and job placement support.
    • Assistance for community organizations and institutions in delivering digital education for all age groups—from youth to seniors (specialized training in coding, cybersecurity, social media management, and website design).
  • The My Digital Life program also became a lifeline for refugees from Ukraine and Belarus seeking to start a new life in Poland. Through its network of employer partners, FRSI created real job opportunities for Ukrainian professionals, providing stability for families and supporting their integration into local communities.

The Sarigato Foundation supports the technological development of children and youth at risk of digital exclusion. Through its Hakersi project, the foundation gives young people a better start in adulthood by developing technological knowledge and skills that increase independence and open doors to new opportunities—especially for those leaving foster care or growing up in challenging environments.

  • With Microsoft’s support, the Hakersi project delivers weekly STEAM-based classes in care facilities and community centers in Pruszków County and Warsaw. These activities build practical skills through play while boosting self-esteem and a sense of agency and competence.

Enabling sustainability

Climate change demands urgent, collective action and technological innovation. We are fully committed to achieving our own climate goals while helping communities reach theirs.

The Information Society Development Foundation (FRSI) supports communities in using new technologies. The foundation believes that, when used effectively, technology can foster dialogue, improve accessibility, and promote equal opportunities and sustainable development in local communities.

  • Environmental grants under My Digital Life enabled comprehensive initiatives led by FRSI in partnership with schools, libraries, and NGOs. These focused on environmental education—particularly air pollution—and on implementing the Cloud on Mars solution powered by Microsoft Azure AI, which provides residents with air quality data via monitors and an app. The project also included an awareness campaign on using EU funds to replace old heating systems. The Źródła Ecological Action Center, working with local institutions, organized training and events on sustainability and provided remotely controlled irrigation equipment for sports fields.

Empowering communities

Microsoft is committed to building strong communities and empowering the organizations that support them. Whether facing sudden crises or long-standing challenges, we use data, technology, and targeted investments to help communities grow with the future in mind.

ChangeX International fosters engaged communities worldwide by providing access to proven innovations and funding, making the process of driving change more inclusive. With Microsoft’s support, the organization has enabled more than 500 grassroots initiatives in local communities across Europe and the United States since 2015.

  • The Microsoft Community Fund for Warsaw, managed by ChangeX, has helped nonprofits in Pruszków County secure funding, resources, and support needed to implement proven solutions or launch new projects that strengthen local communities. Priority areas included sustainability, STEM education, social cohesion, and technology skills development. The fund’s goal was to create more sustainable, livable, and inclusive communities.

TechSoup makes technology accessible to social organizations—software, hardware, solutions, and knowledge—so they can focus on their mission, work more efficiently, and make the world a better place.

  • The Digital Transformation Journey program, run by the TechSoup Foundation, supports NGOs in their digital transformation through practical advice, tools, and training. In the 2025 edition, 15 organizations from across Europe were selected, including three from Poland. Participants receive:
    • A comprehensive digital maturity and needs assessment.
    • A personalized digital transformation plan.
    • Opportunities to implement digital projects (for example, cloud tools, security, automation, data analytics).
    • Expert support and team training.
    • Workshops on AI and change management.
