Finland community investments
Microsoft datacenters are part of the backbone of Finland’s digital ecosystem. They empower government, businesses, and wider society to function and innovate—supporting each one of us with the critical infrastructure we have come to rely on. Microsoft is a major investor in Finnish renewable energy generation, meeting the growing demand for digital services while helping Finland on its decarbonization journey.
Our datacenters are essential to modern life—creating quality construction and operation jobs, supporting STEM skilling and education, and fostering meaningful community partnerships. We are committed to being a good neighbor that contributes to a sustainable future, promoting prosperity and well-being, while addressing societal challenges through our investments.

- AI Literacy and Data Protection Skills for Youth strengthens skills around AI, data protection, data privacy, and the growing role of algorithms among youth and local organizations involved with them. The project emphasizes equality and diversity when collaborating with local players and other stakeholders and experts involved with youth.
Pelastakaa Lapset is the world’s leading non-aligned children’s organization that makes immediate and lasting changes in children’s lives. It safeguards every child’s right to life, protection, learning, and inclusion in Finland and abroad.
- Digital Safety Skills for Comprehensive Schools supports students’ and their caregivers’ understanding of digital safety as well as the skills children need to be safe online. Building relationships and collaborating with comprehensive schools in Espoo, Kirkkonummi, and Vihti, Save the Children produced high-quality accessible learning materials in its Huippula-Toppen service and organized workshops for fourth to sixth graders (10–12-year-olds). The project also created a plain-language guide for parents that is accessible for families with an immigrant or refugee background, and which was distributed to families via schools and other local institutional contacts.
Plan International Finland is a children’s rights and humanitarian organization that improves the lives of the most vulnerable children, especially girls. Plan strives for a just world where the rights of all children are realized. Plan was founded in 1937 and began operations in Finland in 1998. Plan International works in more than 80 countries.
- The Digital Skills and Wellbeing of Immigrant Youth program addresses the challenges of immigrant youth in Finland to participation in society and accessing relevant services. Plan International Finland held two after-school groups during the first half of 2025 for young people aged 15–25 with an immigrant background or who have recently moved to Finland. Participants from Espoo, Kirkkonummi, and Vihti discussed different topics around the themes of digital skills and wellbeing, and familiarized participants with speaking Finnish. The project included a workshop for teachers and youth-workers in the area addressing the same themes and providing trainers with knowledge and tools that they can apply to their work.
