What it means to have Microsoft in your community

We believe that companies that can do more, should. That’s why we remain focused on key areas in which technology can and must benefit the future of humanity and our planet. We aim to build and operate digital infrastructure that addresses community challenges and creates local benefits where we operate and where our employees live and work.

Helping children lead a safer digital life

Children are growing up surrounded by digital media at every turn. Navigating this constant stream of messages and images requires an understanding of digital security and responsible media use. Save the Children Finland and Microsoft worked together on a free service called Huippula, offering lessons and surveys to help teachers integrate media education into their plans. This digital media education helps children and their caregivers, with a special focus on children who face extra barriers to safe online access.

Sponsoring students for Robotics Weeks at the Heureka Science Centre

During the Robotics Weeks, fifth graders from Espoo, Kirkkonummi, and Vihti familiarized themselves with robotics and programming by experimenting in various workshop programs. The visits inspired students who might not otherwise have the opportunity to learn about scientific achievements and innovations that make our everyday lives easier.

Highlighting the importance of cybersecurity for youth

Through the DataAItaja workshops project that began in 2024, TIEKE and Microsoft focused on AI literacy for young people in Finland. Students aged 13 to 19 years heard how to spot AI at work, how to use it to gather information, and how to assess that information for accuracy. They were also able to interact with different uses of AI in everyday life, and to develop ideas for their own AI applications.
