Microsoft in your community

Poland community investments

Microsoft invests in local programs that benefit people of all ages. In Poland, our collaborations are organized by our focus areas of Skills for Jobs, Enabling Sustainability, and Empowering Communities.

The following program list contains a sample of the investments Microsoft makes on an annual basis.

Skills for jobs

Microsoft believes everyone should have access to the skills, technology, and opportunity they need to succeed in a changing economy.

Fundacja Rozwoju Społeczeństwa Informacyjnego (FRSI) supports communities in using new technologies. The Foundation believes that, when used properly, the technologies can facilitate dialogue, increase accessibility, and contribute to equalizing opportunities and sustainable development.

  • Empowering Digital Proficiency strengthens digital skills like AI and cybersecurity and the digital capacity building of institutions and organizations, and Facilitating Workforce Integration supports people entering the labor market. Building upon a successful three-year collaboration with local communities, FRSI continues to address their specific and well-acknowledged needs. FRSI designs educational programs tailored to these communities, drawing upon the insights gained from previous partnerships. Activities encompass empowering educators, employees, NGO activists, and students by equipping them with essential digital skills (based on AI), ensuring they are well-prepared to navigate the evolving digital landscape. Institutions and organizations are provided with vital digital equipment to facilitate their capacity to engage effectively in the digital age.
  • My Digital Life Technology Support and Training Services contributed towards matching professional Ukrainian jobseekers in local communities. Through its network of employer partners, FRSI created opportunities for displaced Ukrainian professionals to secure thriving wage jobs that can sustain refugee families and be reinvested in their communities.

Enabling sustainability

Climate change requires swift, collective action and technological innovation. We are committed to meeting our own goals while helping communities to do the same.

  • My Digital Life Environmental Grants implemented comprehensive activities through a partnership between FRSI and schools, libraries, NGOs, and other institutions, aimed at raising awareness of the local communities concerning environment protection with a focus on air pollution. It included setup of the Cloud on Mars software using Microsoft Azure AI to project the level of pollution, making all relevant data available for people through monitors and an application. A social campaign helped people to use EU funds for replacing fossil-fuel furnaces. Education on environmental protection in schools and libraries was provided by a local NGO. Environmental sustainability training and events were run by Center of Ecological Activities Źródła in cooperation with local institutions, and remote control equipment was provided for sports fields irrigation.

Empowering communities

Microsoft is committed to strengthening communities and empowering the organizations that help them thrive. Whether affected by a recent emergency or decades of challenges, we use data, technology, and strategic investments to restore and support them for future generations.

  • My Digital Life Digital Transition launched upskilling activities based on needs assessment conducted in local communities through desk research and meetings with community officials as well as leaders of local institutions and organizations. Digital transition of the local organizations and institutions included education (coding, cybersecurity, effective social media management, and more), website design, and equipment and software delivery. Through this transition, the organizations could help improve the digital skills of people in the communities, including upskilling training for seniors and educational events organized by the library with experts from FRSI.
