Hansen Farm datacenter construction update

Microsoft is building a datacenter on Hansen Farm Road located in Manassas, Virginia. Construction is expected to continue for 18-24 months.

Why datacenters are needed

Datacenters provide the physical infrastructure for the technology we depend on at work and in our personal lives. Whenever you open an app on your phone, join a virtual classroom or meeting, snap and save photos, or play a game with your friends online, you are using a datacenter. Local businesses, government, hospitals, and schools rely on datacenters every day to deliver goods and services to you.

September 2024 – Construction update

Datacenter construction began in May 2024. The general contractor, Clark Technologies, a division of Clark Construction, is preparing the site by excavating and crushing rock. In some cases, this involves controlled rock fracturing in the early afternoon to break apart larger rocks. Early earthworks construction will continue through Fall 2024.

In adherence to Prince William County’s noise ordinance, Clark Technologies operates within the County’s permitted work hours of 7 AM to 10 PM (Mon-Fri) and 9 AM to 10 PM (Sat, Sun, and holidays). Together with our general contractor, Clark Technologies, we will keep neighbors informed of construction activities.
