Taoyuan datacenter construction update
Microsoft has begun construction on the Taoyuan datacenters in the North Taiwan Area.
Why datacenters are needed
Datacenters provide the physical infrastructure for the technology we depend on at work and in our personal lives. Whenever you open an app on your phone, join a virtual classroom or meeting, snap and save photos, or play a game with your friends online, you are using a datacenter. Local businesses, government, hospitals, and schools rely on datacenters every day to deliver goods and services to you.
Construction update
Microsoft has selected North Taiwan area as the regional launch zone and has started construction for our data center projects. Construction of the first building is estimated to be completed in 2024. Completion of construction does not indicate datacenter operation/availability
Together with our Contractors, Exyte and Ruentex, we are permitted for this work through the local Taiwanese government and are aligned with local laws and regulations related to safety, work hours, air quality and environmental requirements. Our project teams put safety and security of our people as top priority; we bring in international safety best practices to enhance safety culture on-site.
