Get funding for social impact projects in greater Milan through the ChangeX Community Challenge

Nonprofits in greater Milan have a new resource to bring new or existing social impact projects to life in their communities. The Microsoft Lombardia Community Challenge provides funding and support to nonprofits operating in East Milan, West Milan, South Milan, and North Pavese. Managed by ChangeX, the Community Challenge promotes social and environmental sustainability through programs in digital skills, health and well-being, social cohesion and inclusion, and diversity and social justice.

Nonprofit organizations can choose from a portfolio of seven ideas that have already shown a positive impact in other communities around the world or submit a new project. Ideas include:

  • Community Fridge, addressing food waste and food insecurity.
  • River monitoring, involving citizens in protecting local freshwater resources.
  • CoderDojo, teaching the next generation to write code.
  • Emotional Intelligence for Educators, providing educators with teaching resources focused on emotional intelligence.

Organizations submitting applications will have 30 days to create a project team and action plan. Upon completion of these steps, they will be eligible to receive initial funding. ChangeX will assess project ideas on criteria such as feasibility, impact, and scope, and will disburse funding to selected organizations on a first-come, first-served basis. Organizations can receive up to €15,000 per project. The deadline for applications is June 17, 2024. For more information and to submit an application, visit the Microsoft Lombardia Community Challenge website.
