Microsoft invests in local programs that benefit people of all ages. In Taiwan, our collaborations are organized by our focus areas of Skills for Jobs, Enabling Sustainability, and Empowering Communities.
The following program list contains a sample of the investments Microsoft makes on an annual basis.
Skills for jobs
Microsoft believes everyone should have access to the skills, technology, and opportunity they need to succeed in a changing economy.
Far Eastern Memorial Foundation promotes the welfare of humankind and contributes to national development by hosting or sponsoring domestic or international artistic, architectural, cultural, educational, or science-oriented activities and offering scholarships or loans to students.
- The Taoyuan City Tech Skilling Initiative partnered with Yuan Ze University and the GCR Learning organization to design a textbook on cybersecurity and teach classes with this material for 300 trainees (students or citizens). Of the cohort, 150 trainees passed the Microsoft certificate, received school employment counseling, and participated in external employment matchmaking activities.
- The Digital Skills for Taoyuan citizens for Smart City program provided broad cybersecurity and AI fundamental fluency and awareness training across Taoyuan City. By partnering with Yuan Ze University, Taoyuan City Government, and the Microsoft Education Team, videos, online learning platform, and courses were developed based on Microsoft content. The training materials and best practices of this program will be shared with the New Taipei Government and other regions as well.
Enabling sustainability
Climate change requires swift, collective action and technological innovation. We are committed to meeting our own goals while helping communities to do the same.
The Society of Wilderness is dedicated to protecting the natural and ecological environment in Taiwan through education, habitat preservation, and public participation.
Empowering communities
Microsoft is committed to strengthening communities and empowering the organizations that help them thrive. Whether affected by a recent emergency or decades of challenges, we use data, technology, and strategic investments to restore and support them for future generations.
The Society of Wilderness is dedicated to protecting the natural and ecological environment in Taiwan through education, habitat preservation, and public participation.
- Taoyuan City Ecological Restoration Project includes three programs. One, it rents idle farmland to create a sustainable community garden that can support a small farmers’ market for community residents to access free or affordable produce and create volunteer opportunities for employees to engage with the community. Two, it designs and hosts aquatic plant protection training for the community and employees to support ecological conservation. This program uses streams and pools in the Taoyuan City area to teach conservation, remediation, greening, and breeding. Three, it hosts biodiversity workshops for local students and employees to learn about local ecology via nature experience activities like building environmentally appropriate habitats for local species.
- Environmental Skilling Initiatives provided opportunities for the community through volunteer days, food-agriculture education, environmental education, nature therapy workshops, and community elder luncheons in Dalin Village and Fengu Village. This project was formed through a partnership between the Society of Wilderness and Jane-Der Primary School.
