County Road 381 datacenter construction update

Microsoft is building a datacenter on County Road 381 in San Antonio, Texas.

Why datacenters are needed

Datacenters provide the physical infrastructure for the technology we depend on at work and in our personal lives. Whenever you open an app on your phone, join a virtual classroom or meeting, snap and save photos, or play a game with your friends online, you are using a datacenter. Local businesses, government, hospitals, and schools rely on datacenters every day to deliver goods and services to you.

Construction overview

Construction is scheduled to begin in August 2025, with early works kicking off the process. The project is expected to continue through Winter 2028, with major milestones and updates shared along the way. Completion of construction does not indicate datacenter operations/availability.

Microsoft and Lemartec are committed to keeping the community informed of mitigation efforts which include:

  • Dust and debris control using water suppression methods.
  • Noise reduction by limiting construction activities to designated hours.
  • Traffic management through clear signage, coordinated detours with local authorities, and safe pedestrian pathways around the site.

Construction hours

  • Monday – Saturday 7:00am – 5:00pm

If construction falls outside of normal operating hours, our team will notify the homeowners via email in advance as stated in the San Antonio city code.
