Introducing Fatima Gois
Datacenter Technician
Germany
Employee since 2020
Early days
Fatima was born and raised in Venezuela, where she lived for most of her life. As a child Fatima was interested in astronomy and sports. At university in Venezuela, she earned a language and literature degree. When her family moved to Europe—first to Portugal and then to Germany—her life changed, and she gained many experiences adapting to different cultures.
The path to technology
Fatima started at Microsoft four years ago in the logistics area as a Datacenter Asset and Inventory Technician. After the first year, her interest in the technical area started to grow and she began a series of training courses that will influence her career throughout the company. Fatima also supported her colleagues as a technician, performing break/fixes and deployment activities until she got the opportunity to officially change her role to Datacenter Technician.
Superpowers
Fatima’s attention to detail allows her to keep everything organized and makes her a problem solver. “When I’m inside the datacenter I consider myself a digital guardian who needs to keep everything running smooth and efficiently,” she says, “and I can only achieve this by being part of this amazing team.”
A day in the life
Fatima’s day starts with a cup of coffee and a meeting with her team to discuss important topics and organize the activities that they have planned for the day or week. After jumping into a few meetings during the day, Fatima moves around the site to work on tickets and troubleshooting on deployments. She keeps in touch with her team to provide assistance and training to new members. At the end of the day, Fatima reconvenes with her colleagues to talk about what needs to be done the next day, finishes her work, and goes home.
Favorite childhood food
Fatima’s favorite food has always been the Venezuelan dish, arepas. “It’s delicious and very practical as you can have arepas filled with anything!” Arepas are eaten at any time of the day. Fatima will cook them many times per week and says that it keeps her close to her culture and reminds her of when she was little and ate arepas almost every day for school lunch.
