Vaasa datacenter project updates

Datacenters provide the physical infrastructure for the technology we depend on at work and in our personal lives. Whenever you open an app on your phone, join a virtual classroom or meeting, snap and save photos, or play a game with your friends online, you are using a datacenter. Local businesses, government, hospitals, and schools rely on datacenters every day to deliver goods and services.
Project update 12 August 2026
We are currently in the application process for building permits from the municipality of Mustasaari and city of Vaasa. Once these progress, we will continue to update you on the construction timeline.
Construction update 13 July 2026
Pre-construction work on the Vaasa datacenter plot in the GigaVaasa industrial area began mid-July.
The work will begin in stages. The first stages of the work are clearing the work area, building site roads, transporting rock material to the site, strengthening the soil, and moving surplus soil within the site. Construction site operations will be expanded later.
Construction updates can be viewed from our general contractor’s project website: Tuotantotie 15 datakeskustontin esirakentaminen – Destia.
