Unleashing creativity: Microsoft and Warren High School students design Fiesta medal with AI

Fiesta San Antonio is a joyous celebration of the city’s rich cultural heritage and diversity. It brings people together to revel in the unique traditions and customs that make San Antonio truly special. Over 11 days, more than 100 events light up the city, featuring parades, delicious food, live music, captivating performances, and arts and craft fairs. One cherished tradition of the festival is the collection of medals that showcase San Antonio pride. In 2025, Microsoft was thrilled to join in this tradition for the very first time.
Twenty-five talented students from Ms. Paola Sosa’s graphic design and advanced graphic design classes gathered to explore the world of AI and Microsoft Designer. To create the Fiesta medal, Microsoft community affairs leaders hosted a virtual Image Creation with AI workshop with graphic design students at Northside Independent School District’s Warren High School. During the workshop, students crafted their own prompts to generate images of a Fiesta medal and voted on their top three designs. The winning design proudly adorned Microsoft’s Fiesta medal for the 2025 festival. This collaborative effort not only showcased the students’ artistic talents but also highlighted the innovative use of AI in graphic design.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to the teachers, staff, and the incredible students at Warren High School for making this workshop a resounding success. Through this initiative, the students created a unique and meaningful symbol of Fiesta San Antonio, celebrating both the festival’s cherished traditions and the exciting future of technology. Medals were distributed at Texas Cavaliers River Parade where Microsoft was a technology sponsor.
