Microsoft Datacenter Campus Middenmeer Development
Datacenters are the physical infrastructure for the technology we depend on in our work and daily lives. From virtual classes to storing photos or playing an online game, virtually every digital activity uses a datacenter. Local businesses, government, hospitals, and schools rely on datacenters every day to provide you with goods and services.
January 2026
On December 3, 2025, a well-attended information evening about the planned expansion of the Datacenter Campus was held at the Meerhoeve in Middenmeer. In an accessible and informal setting, Microsoft employees and partners engaged in discussions with local residents and other interested parties from the region.
Visitors browsed six themed booths, where specialists from Microsoft and partners provided information on a wide range of topics: from construction plans and traffic to sustainability, employment, and collaboration with the region. Many visitors seized the opportunity to share their concerns, contribute ideas, or simply gain more insight into what the campus expansion means for their immediate surroundings. The discussions were open and constructive, precisely the intent of the evening.
The information evening is part of Microsoft’s broader commitment to transparent communication and collaboration with the local community.

September 2025
On 10 September 2025 Microsoft announced the next phase in the development of the datacenter campus in Middenmeer, on the west side of the A7.
The new phase will be realized in close cooperation with the municipality of Hollands Kroon, local organizations, and the community. Landscape integration is central to this. The design takes into account the character of the open polder landscape and is tailored to the immediate surroundings.
Microsoft has opted for openness from the start of the new phase. We organize information meetings for residents in which we explain our plans, answer questions, and discuss what is going on. More information about these meetings will follow soon.
