Microsoft builds data center in Capital Region and Zealand

We are starting the construction of our datacenters in Denmark. Therefore we find it important to keep the community up-to-date about the process and progress. This website is to inform you about our plans, timelines, and the latest information. We are happy and proud to be part of your community.

In 2020, Microsoft announced the most significant investment in its 30-year history in Denmark, introducing Denmark as the location for its next sustainable datacenter region along with a comprehensive skilling commitment for an estimated 200,000 Danes by 2024. Powered by 100 percent renewable energy, our new datacenter region will provide Danish customers of all sizes faster access to the Microsoft Cloud, world-class security and the ability to store data at rest in the country.

Powering Daily Life

The cloud is an engine that powers our daily lives. From remote work to online shopping, we increasingly depend on cloud computing.  Hundreds of Microsoft datacenters around the world facilitate that activity, storing and managing data with sophisticated physical and logical security measures that control who and what has access to the cloud. Take a virtual step inside a datacenter to learn how the Microsoft Cloud works.

These announcements are part of #DigitalLeapDenmark, a plan to support the country’s green digital future. This plan represents the next step in our longstanding commitment to help the country accelerate public sector digitization, fuel digital innovation to support growth of Danish enterprises, and apply technology to help create a greener future. Today, Microsoft employs more than a thousand people in Denmark and we work closely together with close to 4000 Danish partners to deliver value for our customers in the public and private sector.
