Creating positive spaces for students

Børns Vilkår, an organization that supports safe social communities for school-aged children across Denmark, is launching 100 new classroom workshops across 22 public schools in Høje Taastrup and Køge, with support from Microsoft.
Børns Vilkår offers two types of workshops that target student well-being and community building efforts.
The first, “Our Classroom Community,” focuses on preventing bullying and emphasizing class cohesion and a sense of community. These classes teach students how to actively contribute positive energy in both supportive and challenging environments and situations, both in the classroom and out. This workshop aims to equip students with skills to interact with each other productively, to prevent instances of bullying and exclusion.
The second, “Our Digital Communities,” specifically targets digital forms of bullying. Interactive exercises help students to practice safe and welcoming forms of online communication in digital communities. These workshops also help adults learn how to support students and foster safe use of online spaces.
Counselors with Børns Vilkår work diligently with the goal of protecting a child’s right to a safe and happy upbringing, especially while in school and online. With the help of Microsoft, they look forward to expanding more classroom workshops throughout Denmark.
