Collaborating with Peamount Healthcare to improve quality of life in West Dublin

At Microsoft, we believe in being a good neighbour and contributing to the well-being and sustainability of communities where we operate. In pursuit of this goal, we have collaborated with Peamount Healthcare, a nonprofit dedicated to rehabilitation, residential, and community services located near our datacentre campus in southwest Dublin. Over the years, this collaboration has blossomed into a meaningful relationship, driven by dedicated individuals and impactful initiatives.

Creating healing spaces for those in need

Peamount Healthcare is an independent voluntary organization that offers a wide range of high-quality rehabilitation, residential, and community services. Its mission is to help individuals return home after serious illnesses or provide safe and homely residential care for those in need, as well as to support people to live as independently as possible within their community.

As part of our commitment to support the well-being of local communities, Microsoft has collaborated with Peamount Healthcare in a series of initiatives to improve the organisation’s services and facilities. In 2024, for example, Microsoft helped create a well-being room, providing a therapeutic space for relaxation and healing. Another Microsoft investment involved planting trees as part of a biodiversity project, enhancing the natural environment around Peamount. A volunteer team including 70 Microsoft employees planted over 4,500 native trees on Peamount’s substantial grounds, creating three new orchards and green space for patients, their families, and the community to enjoy.

Our collaboration with Peamount Healthcare reflects a strong relationship between our Dublin datacentre operations staff and Peamount Healthcare. Microsoft datacentre employee Karen Mendez has worked closely with Peamount CEO Tanya King to support a number of initiatives, including Halloween and Christmas celebrations and parties for patients and residents. Mendez reflects on the impact of the collaboration: “At Microsoft, our partnership with Peamount Healthcare is a testament to the power of community and collaboration. By working together, we are not only enhancing the well-being of individuals but also nurturing the environment and creating spaces of healing and joy for the community.” Tanya King, CEO of Peamount Healthcare, explains how both the facility upgrades and special events have benefited Peamount’s residents and patients: “The contribution of the staff from the datacentre to the enhancement of our grounds and facilities has been fantastic. However, it is the joy and happiness on the faces of our residents, patients, and service users when they interact with new people, participate in the many parties and events Microsoft have organized, or benefit from the Tranquillity Room that is the most impactful.”
