Microsoft invests in local programs that benefit people of all ages. In Indonesia, our collaborations are organized by our focus areas of Skills for Jobs, Enabling Sustainability, and Empowering Communities.
The following program list contains a sample of the investments Microsoft makes on an annual basis.
Skills for jobs
Microsoft believes everyone should have access to the skills, technology, and opportunity they need to succeed in a changing economy.
ChangeX International helps to create thriving communities everywhere by democratizing change, ensuring proven innovations and finance are accessible to everyone, everywhere. ChangeX is a community engagement platform that, with Microsoft’s support, has funded more than 500 groups in communities across Europe and the United States since 2015. Funds are repeated often throughout the years.
- The Tech Skilling Program in Jakarta offers datacenter training from Nusantara Academy (a recognized training provider in Indonesia) to 20 students from Politekniks in the Bekasi and Kerawang area. Additionally, ChangeX will help disburse an open grant to selected schools within these areas for materials, hardware, or other improvements to fit their digital skilling needs.
Enabling sustainability
Climate change requires swift, collective action and technological innovation. We are committed to meeting our own goals while helping communities to do the same.
One Tree Planted is dedicated to making it easier for both individuals and businesses to give back to the environment, create a healthier climate, protect biodiversity, and help reforestation efforts.
- The Jakarta GIIC and KIIC estate tree planting project is part of urban tree planting efforts within the Citarum River watershed. The urban tree canopy in Jakarta is declining due to development and population pressure at a time when it’s desperately needed. Trees4Trees, a Java-based nonprofit that focuses on empowering communities through reforestation and education, has taken a collaborative approach to tree planting by engaging with local stakeholders to plan, implement, and evaluate the project. With support from Microsoft and One Tree Planted, Trees4Trees is planting over 40,000 trees throughout the GIIC estate and in surrounding areas of the KIIC estate. These plantings will contribute to the cleanup and flood mitigation efforts in the Citarum River watershed, which is prioritized by local/national governments. The project will support hundreds of temporary jobs in tree planting and maintenance and provide sustainable sources of income from the fruits produced by the trees.
Empowering communities
Microsoft is committed to strengthening communities and empowering the organizations that help them thrive. Whether affected by a recent emergency or decades of challenges, we use data, technology, and strategic investments to restore and support them for future generations.
