Microsoft is beginning early construction work at its datacenter site in Silver Springs, Nevada. We are committed to keeping the community informed as work progresses and to reducing construction-related impacts where possible.

Why datacenters are needed

Datacenters provide the physical infrastructure that supports the technology people use every day. Microsoft datacenters support online services that enable communication, remote work, learning, healthcare, business operations, and other digital activities.

Construction overview

Construction update September 2026
Early construction activities have started at the Silver Springs site. Current work includes preparing the property, moving earth, and relocating utility lines.

Community members may notice trucks entering and leaving the site, construction equipment operating on the property, and occasional drone surveys above the work area. Microsoft and its contractor will take steps to control dust and stagger truck traffic to help reduce impacts on nearby roads and the surrounding community.

Q&D Construction LLC is the general contractor for this work. Construction is expected to continue through several stages over the next few years.

Construction hours
Construction follows legally permitted work hours and is generally scheduled during the following times:

• Monday through Friday: 7 AM to 7 PM
• Saturday: 9 AM to 5 PM
• Sunday and city holidays: No work scheduled
