Promoting trades careers to high school students

On October 4, team members from Microsoft, Walsh Construction, and Kiewit Corporation participated in the second annual Teens in Trades Day at J.I Case High School. Teens in Trades Day is organized by Professional Women in Trades, a Black woman-led organization, to create awareness of the benefits that trades careers have and showcase the diversity of trades workers. At this day-long event over 800 Racine Unified School District students had access to Microsoft datacenter resources, trades trading cards developed by Kiewit and Walsh, and resources provided by more than 10 local trades organizations. Professional Women in Trades’ mission is to encourage and empower women to pursue non-traditional careers by creating awareness of non-traditional job opportunities through exposure.
