Microsoft invests in local programs that benefit people of all ages. In Illinois, our collaborations are organized by our focus areas of Building Digital Skills, Enabling Sustainability, and Empowering Communities. The following program list contains a sample of the investments Microsoft makes on an annual basis.

Microsoft believes everyone should have access to the skills, technology, and opportunity they need to succeed in a changing economy.   Illinois Science and Technology Coalition  (ISTC) is a member-driven non-profit that strengthens the state’s innovation economy through ecosystem programming and support, data insights, and non-partisan policy and advocacy at a state and national level. The Illinois Science & Technology Institute (ISTI), its 501c3-affiliate, focuses on Science, Technology, Education and Mathematics (STEM) education, connecting companies with classrooms to better prepare the next generation of problem solvers.

• Desafíos STEM del Instituto de Ciencia y Tecnología de Illinois son proyectos del mundo real que crean oportunidades para que los estudiantes de secundaria trabajen junto a profesionales de STEM como mentores. Los estudiantes y los mentores de los socios industriales de STEM Challenge colaboran a lo largo de seis meses para explorar, crear y construir soluciones innovadoras. La financiación adicional permite a dos equipos del STEM Challenge del ISTC entrenados por Microsoft visitar el Microsoft Executive Briefing Center en el centro AON de Chicago.
• El programa Mentor Matching Engine empareja hasta 30 empleados de Microsoft como mentores 1:1 para estudiantes de un instituto de la zona, como Elk Grove High School y Hoffman Estates High School, durante el curso escolar. Whether affected by a recent emergency or decades of challenges, we use data, technology, and strategic investments to restore and support them for future generations.   Hands of Hope of Illinois  is a food network and ministry striving to assist in God’s business of caring for his children. Its main objective is to share the gospel through the giving of food.

• Ayuda alimentaria de Hands of Hope proporciona a la ciudad de Chicago y al área metropolitana de Chicago comestibles para alimentar a familias desfavorecidas. Esta financiación apoyará las necesidades de transporte, incluyendo reparaciones de camiones semi, unidades de refrigeración, suministros de alimentos, mano de obra y otros gastos de capital para permitir su negocio continuo de alimentar a la comunidad.

Climate change requires swift, collective action and technological innovation. We are committed to meeting our own goals while helping communities to do the same. Severson Dells Educational Foundation  links people to nature through education and research in the northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin area. The Foundation promotes awareness of the natural world, fostering respect, enjoyment, and preservation now and in the future.

• El proyecto de restauración del campo de golf Elliott está creando una nueva reserva natural comunitaria en Cherry Valley, Illinois. Con una subvención de Microsoft, el Centro Natural Severson Dells devolverá a este antiguo campo de golf de 168 acres su hábitat natural de pradera, sabana de robles y humedales, y establecerá un centro de aprendizaje de la naturaleza en la antigua casa club. Situada en una línea de autobús público, la reserva natural será accesible al público para recreo y educación ambiental.
