Microsoft honored to receive the Quincy Valley Business of the Year award
The Microsoft datacenter in rural Quincy, Washington has been operational for over ten years. Over this time, Microsoft has worked collaboratively with the city and other local stakeholders to enrich the community via a variety of projects, including restoring beaver habitats, opening the state’s first industrial water reuse center, and supporting mobile food banks, with local datacenter employees volunteering their time to these efforts. Microsoft was recently recognized for its work, as its datacenter received the 2020 Business of the Year award in Quincy.
After delays to the original ceremony due to COVID-19, on June 17th, 2021, the Quincy Valley Chamber of Commerce presented awards to those in the community who are making the biggest impacts. “The Quincy Valley Chamber of Commerce provides annual awards to honor those unsung heroes in our community – the teachers, the volunteers, the businesses, and the individuals who have worked so hard to make Quincy the amazing community it is today,” says Cari V. Mathews, Executive Director of the Quincy Valley Chamber of Commerce. “Microsoft is being presented this award for a business that has achieved excellence in all aspects of business management to include the use of best human resource practices, customer satisfaction and has garnered the respect of the Community by generously supporting community projects.” Microsoft Washington State TechSpark manager and community lead Lisa Karstetter says, “We are so pleased to be part of the Quincy community and are grateful to the citizens and leadership for their collaboration. We value their communication around community priorities and strive to use that input to shape future projects.”
